Unique vineyards
Valdesil owns the oldest Godello vineyards in Spain. Pedrouzos is its most famous plot, which was planted at the end of the 19th century by an ancestor of the family that owns the property today.
Successive vineyard plantations have been made using cuttings taken from Pedrouzos, so that Valdesil’s own vineyards reproduce the original clone and maintain the differences that set it apart from other clones present in Valdeorras (smaller bunches, lower yields, higher concentration of juice).
Vilamartín de Valdeorras
Valdesil’s vineyards are located in the villages of Portela and Córgomo, which are part of the Vilamartín de Valdeorras borough. Situated in the north-east of Valdeorras, Vilamartín is one of the areas in which vines were first grown in Valdeorras and includes the largest area of vines grown on slate soils, which bring the wines their very characteristic minerality. |
