Valdesil is a family-owned winery located in inland Galicia. Vinifying with grapes produced from the oldest Godello vines in the world, its success has resulted in Valdeorras wines figuring on the wine lists of some of the top restaurants in the world.

Valdesil endeavours to make wines that mirror the nature of the Valdeorras land, with its characteristic slate soils, and reflect the painstaking care lavished on its vines, seeking to achieve wines that display depth and complexity and an ability to thrill wine enthusiasts.

Single estate white wines
The Godellos of Valdeorras have today become the acknowledged top white wines of Galicia. Located in inland Galicia to the east of Orense, the Godello white grape variety has found in this tiny appellation the ideal conditions for white wine production, offering wines that are superb on the palate and with great potential to improve in bottle over time. The slate soils and the favourable latitude and altitude, combined with the special climatic conditions of the valley of the River Sil, make this area the ideal place for the Godello to express all of its great potential.

Red wines with Atlantic character
Valdeorras has won international recognition for its Godello white wines. However, the region has also traditionally grown the Mencia red variety. In this cool climate, Mencia red wines develop a very characteristic subtle flavour.

Our vision for the future
The wine sector will continue to change. Wineries from traditional wine areas producing brands in large volumes and occupying supermarket shelf space at prices which are not the best value for money will continue to lose market share. In their place, small wineries in emerging areas that have re-established indigenous varieties will appear. These will continue to be the most sought-after Spanish wines in the most demanding export markets.
